Types of Elder Abuse

If the situation is suspicious for one type of abuse – consider ALL types of abuse.

Many abusers have prior criminal record
Approximately 50% have drug or alcohol-related issues
Many have no means of support aside from the alleged victims’ housing, pension, social security checks
Many have mental illness or disability themselves
May not want victim interviewed alone and appear controlling
